Change of Plans -- Family Movie Night

I just found out about Walmart and P&G's Family Movie Night.  Of course anything called 'Family Movie Night' gets my attention because our family has a movie night every week.

The goal of Family Movie Night is to provide appropriate and "meaningful entertainment for the entire family" (and that includes the commercials too!).  It's happened far too often where my kids and I are watching an appropriate tv show only to be bombarded with a movie preview for an R rated movie.  I holler "cover your eyes" while I lunge for the remote to quickly change the channel.  So I'm looking forward to my kids and I watching something on tv that is stress free.

This Saturday, January 8th at 8/7c on Fox (please check your listings to verify) the movie Change of Plans will air.  I haven't seen the movie and so can't recommend it, but it sounds great.

Brooke White (American Idol 7th season) and Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) star in this movie about a couple who are faced with an instant family.  The moral of the movie is how investing in the lives of others can be more fulfilling then what we'd originally planned for ourselves.

I'm looking forward to watching this movie and hope you and your family will 'join' me and mine!

  1. Hope you enjoy your family time. Our family goes for the old black-and-white classics.

  4. Jodi, thanks! We watch classics sometimes too. We've watched some Shirley Temple movies and most recently "National Velvet" and "It's a Wonderful Life".

Thanks Wendy and Jessica! I look forward to getting to know you too...

  5. We watched the movie and it was just as I expected -- it was a good made-for-tv family movie. Thankfully (for my sensitive kids) the movie did not go into too much detail about the more tense subject matter such as the death of the parents.

I wasn't impressed with all the commercials though. Ah well...

  6. I love the idea of family movie night...somehow over here it is always somewhat chaotic :). Maybe when they are all a little older...have fun!

  7. It definitely depends on the kids! My kids are super active, but surprisingly have good attention spans when it comes to movies.

  8. Two of my favorite--and it's hard to pick a favorite, actually--are The Best Years of Our Lives, and Sergeant York. If you haven't seen them, don't be put off that they're war movies. They have some of the most power-of-love, touching scenes in them.

  9. Thanks Jodi! I was able to request the first one from the library, but I'll have to keep looking for the second. I don't mind watching war movies (but, not with the kids just yet!).
