CHANGE YOUR WORLD!
...WITH ONE SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS
Greg Kinnear (least known for "Stuck on You"), Renee Zellweger (who portrayed Beatrix Potter in "Miss Potter"), and Djimon Hounsou (voice of Drago in "How to Train Your Dragon" 2 and 3) lead the cast in this movie. With excellent acting and strong emotions, "Same Kind of Different as Me" is sure to make an impression on you.In "Same Kind of Different as Me" Debbie Hall, a woman with a heart of gold, has a dream about a homeless man that she feels compelled to find and befriend. Ron, her husband, is a self-absorbed art dealer who is on the verge of leaving their marriage. Can Ron and Debbie find this mysterious homeless man and if so, what kind of a difference will it make?
Thanks to an invitation by the Pure Flix team, my husband and I were able to pre-screen the movie "Same Kind of Different as Me". We loved that the movie leaves you with such a strong sense of hope. Throughout the movie Ron, Debbie and Denver make a difference in the lives of one another and in the lives of the people around them. Hopefully this movie will inspire you to make a difference, however small it may seem at first, in the life of another person.

I have paid for tolls for the people behind me or in a fast food line for the order behind me.
ReplyDeleteImagine their surprise when they come up next and don't have to pay!
DeleteUsually cut my neighbors grass for them.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they appreciate it! I know I would...
DeleteI volunteered at an animal shelter and helped little kitties and puppies. When people adopted them, I tried to help out by donating gift cards for people who adopted special needs dogs.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great place to volunteer!
DeleteI just gave a homeless man a Kind bar - which was supposed to be my snack!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Kind thing to do. :)
DeleteWe adopt a family for Christmas each year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a loving tradition!
DeleteWe will commit to cooking a meal for our elderly neighbor.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your elderly neighbour will appreciate that!

DeleteI gave a restaurant gift card someone had given me to a homeless man. He insisted on writing a poem for me and my children as a thank you gift.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful story!
DeleteI am already committed to go on a mission trip in a few weeks. But we will also be filling up operation Christmas child shoeboxes and soldier stockings soon too.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! Now I'm curious where your missions trip will be going?!? PS: We love doing shoeboxes too.
Deletewe love doing operation Christmas child shoeboxes each year, last year I focused on ones for the older kids.
ReplyDeleteWe love to do Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes too! In the past when I volunteered to check the boxes at the warehouse prior to shipping they mentioned that they often have a shortage of boxes for older kids. For that reason we do boxes for older kids too!
DeleteI'm passionate about doing random acts of kindness every chance I get. One time my husband & I were in the car in the winter, trying to make it to a DR. appt. because I was sick. We were stopped at a red light in the small town we lived near then. An elderly man, very obviously extremely drunk stumbled off the curb trying to cross the street and fell flat on his face in the middle of the intersection and was trying to get up but couldn't because it was too slippery and he was too drunk. We both gasped when he fell but then even more so when to our shock and horror, ALL the other cars in the busy intersection and we KNOW they saw him!... they all started just going thru the intersection and driving around his body! NO ONE stopped or used their car to block/protect him .. nothing! I screamed worried he would get hit so I told my husband find a place to pull over and I opened the car door and jumped into the traffic holding up my arms to stop the cars and grabbed the old man to help him up and had to let him lean on me for support the whole time because it was obvious he would fall again from his drunkenness. Once I got him on the curb, I asked him where he was trying to go and he said "home" he just lived a few blocks away. So my husband and I held him up and walked him to his house and he was embarassed and grateful and we told him we were SO sorry people were so cruel to leave him there. He said "I deserve it I am just a worthless drunk " We told him, NO YOU ARE NOT, you are a human being and everyone has weaknesses and faults just some of them aren't visible to others that's all. EVERYONE is someone's someone special and should be treated like it. We should treat people not only how we would want to be treated but how we would hope one of our own dearest loved ones that we love more than life itself would be treated by strangers if in such a situation. SADLY to us this wasn't even a random act of kindness that we love doing, this one made us sad, because it seemed like EVERY car should have been stopping just out of human decency.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad, Yvonne. Especially that he felt he deserved to be treated that way. I'm so glad that you and your husband were there to keep him safe and show him love.
DeleteWe just moved into a new apt. building. The complex has over 800 apts but each building only has 6 apts. We don't know any of the neighbors in the other 5 apts and that's ok. Many people are private but for Halloween and Christmas we plan to make them little surprise gift bags to sneak and leave in the hallway by each of their doors. It's ok if we still don't meet them afterward, it's about making people feel cared about, thought of and special and not about the outcome.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I hope you have the chance to connect with your new neighbours while also blessing them!
DeleteI paint rocks and give out and leave in different spots for people tofind

ReplyDeleteI hope your friend's son is doing well. That's sweet of you to help raise money for his medical costs.
DeleteI will rake the leaves in my neighbor's yard.
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful!
DeleteI did my kids laundry when they came home from college this weekend with a smile.
